(My Journey)

Greetings! I'm Michon, a God-led woman and founder of Natural Mama Company. I am also a wife and mother of three. Over the course of four years, all three of my pregnancies and births have guided me toward bringing the vision for Natural Mama Company into fruition. It has been a long time coming, but here I am.

 

​You may wonder how I arrived at this point in my journey. In truth, I didn’t arrive; I truly believe I returned. Growing up in a country bayou region of southeast Louisiana, 30 miles south of New Orleans, I developed a connection to nature in my early years. I spent much of my childhood outside, barefoot in the grass, a practice I now know as grounding. In 2012, I began taking steps towards healing and became more mindful of the foods I consumed. In 2018, I was introduced to an elder herbalist who practiced from their home apothecary. Seeds were planted, but I didn’t fully take this practice seriously at the time. Three years later, during my pregnancy with my firstborn, I returned to using herbs specific to pregnancy and labor. I continued using herbal blends throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery with my second and third children. I now realize how it has all come full circle. I’m returning to the things that shaped my early life—connecting with plants, grounding, and embodying a slower pace of living, just as I did when I was little girl in the country.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Health Promotion & Wellness, which provided a foundation in Biology, Anatomy, and Chemistry. My degree studies focused on a more conventional approach to health and wellness. However, as I continued on my path, I realized that the conventional approach to health and wellness didn’t fully align with my values of natural living nor did they give me the results I desired. This forced me to tap into a different way. That different way being holistic practices, which changed my life.​ Holistic health resonates with me because it makes me examine every dimension of my well-being—mind, body, and spirit. I found my purpose through doing things the natural way, including birth.​

 

I believe in natural approaches to assist women as they enter into motherhood. I provide women with natural remedies, as well as guidance surrounding womb wellness and birth. At Natural Mama Company, every product created and tip shared comes from my personal experiences, personal connection with the herbs used, and knowledge gained over the years.​ So, thank you for being a part of this experience  with me. This is only the beginning. I am very excited to support you through holistic practices, herbal medicine, and all things natural.
